We are delighted to share with you that this school year Our Lady of Lourdes will be using Seesaw (http://seesaw.me), a secure online journal where pupils can document and reflect on what they are learning at home. Your child will be able to add photos, videos, worksheets, drawings and voice recordings to their Seesaw journal and share them privately with the school staff. The staff will be using Seesaw to upload the routine weekly homework, and the remote-home learning activities if your child is isolating due to COVID-19.
It is the DfE’s expectation that by the end of September 2020 that all schools must provide remote education and ‘blended learning’ in anticipation for a local or national lockdown. “Where a class, group or small number of pupils need to self-isolate, or there is a local lockdown requiring pupils to remain at home, we expect schools to have the capacity to offer immediate remote education” (DfE, updated 17/9/2020).
In order for your child to use Seesaw, the app needs your child’s name in order to be able to associate work like their photos, videos or voice recordings with their account. Seesaw only uses this information to provide the service and does not:
- advertise in Seesaw
- create profiles of students
- share or sell your child’s personal information or journal content
